Stripped of all non-essential, as bicycles Ducati Monster's have started a new trend towards minimalist motorcycles.
On the monster, there's nothing to the sail frame tubular lattice
or V-twin engine. Unlike the Ducati race-inspired sports exotic carrying four valves, water-cooled V-twins, the monster came with a less sophisticated air-cooled two-valve engine, although it remains the society carried the signature of the activation desmodromique.
The machine even simplistic nature means a tachometer is superfluous, but the approach has resulted in a feather-light weight of only 390 pounds.
Accordingly, the monster followed a formula that has proved so popular with American Muscle Cars 1960's: lightweight, powerful base engine, low prices. Introduced in 1993 with a 900 cc V-twin, 750 small - and 600 cc followed Monsters, although the latter has not been sold to the USA until recently.
