1977 Harley-Davidson XLCR

1977 Harley-Davidson XLCR Although the 1977 Harley-Davidson motorcycle XLCR was a beautiful machine, competition from Japanese bike was too strong for XLCR to be a great success in the U.S. market. In an attempt to capitalize on coffee-racing trend that has been sweeping the country in mid 1970, Harley-Davidson ventured into the world of customs to bring out the XLCR.

He applied a small "bikini" fairing, fender scarce before, angular fuel tank, solo seat fibreglass tail, three disc brakes, and "siamesed" two-in-two heads escapement a level of 1000 cc Sportster, then wrapped the whole affair in black. The problem is that although XLCR has claimed to be "the most powerful production cycle Harley-Davidson has ever built," it was not saying much; Japanese competitors are quite a bit faster and less expensive start. In addition, the typical Harley buyer seems to take little interest in joining the road racing crowd, so sales never took off. This is actually a motorcycle very interesting (and very soon, a collection very moto) disappeared after only two years.
